राजकुमारी मंछालरामो और राजा बायोडण्डी की कहानी

गोण्ड के बावनगढ़ों और बावन गोत्रों का ही जिक्र आता है। परधानों द्वारा गोण्ड समुदाय के इन शासक राजाओं की कहानी गा-गा कर सुनाई जाती है। इस चित्र कथा में गोण्ड राजा कुहीमांछा की बेटी राजकुमारी मंछालरामो और राजा बायोडण्डी की कहानी को अंकित किया गया है। राजा कुहीमांछा अपनी पुत्री के विवाह के लिये जो शर्त रखता है, उसे पूरा करने में बैरागढ़ के राजकुमार को छोड़कर किसी अन्य गढ़ के राजा में सामथ्र्य नहीं थी। विवाह का निमंत्रण पाकर सारे गढ़ों के राजा चांदागढ़ में कुहीमांछा के दरबार पहुँचे। बायोडण्डी को आमंत्रण नहीं भेजा गया था, चूँकि चांदागढ़ और बैरागढ़ के बीच बहुत पुरानी दुश्मनी जो थी। कुहीमांछा की शर्त को पूरा न करने के कारण उन सभी को बन्दी बना लिया गया। इधर राजकुमारी मंछालरामो किसी राजकुमार के द्वारा शर्त न पूरी करने के कारण चिन्तित रहने लगीं। एक दिन एक बुढ़िया ने उसे राजकुमार बायोडण्डी के बारे में बताया और उसके पास संदेश भेजने का उपाय भी सुझाया। संदेश पाकर बायोडण्डी चांदागढ़ आता है, अपनी बहादुरी और रणकौशल से बन्दी राजाओं को छुड़ाने तथा निर्धारित शर्त को पूर्ण करने में सक्षम होता है। इसके बावजूद भी शत्रु राज्य से होने के कारण राजा कुहीमांछा राजकुमार बायोडण्डी को स्वीकार नहीं करता है। अन्त में बायोडण्डी कुहीमांछा को मारकर मंछालरामो से विवाह कर दोनों ही राज्यों में न्याय का शासन स्थापित करता है।

Story of Princess Manchalramo and King Bayodaandi

There is mention of 52 forts and 52 clans of the Gonds. The story of these ruling kings of the Gond community is narrated by the Pardhans. In this pictorial narration , the story of Princess Manchalramo , the daughter of Gond King Kuhimanchha and King Bayodandi, is narrated. Raja Kuhimanchha had no power in fulfilling the condition laid down for the marriage of his daughter, except the prince of Bairagarh. After receiving the invitation of marriage, the kings of all the states reached the court of Kuhimanchha in Chandagarh. Bayodandi was not invited because of a very old rivalry between Chandagarh and Bairagarh. All of the invited prince were imprisoned after their failure in the conditions applied by Kuhimanchha. On the other side, Princess Manchalramo was worried because not a single prince was able to live up to kings expectation. One day an old lady told her about prince Bayodandi and also suggested a way to send a message to her. Having received the message, Bayodandi arrives in Chandagarh, with his bravery and tact, he is able to release the captive kings and fulfil the challenge given by the king . Despite this, King Kuhimanchha did not accept Prince Bayodandi because of rivalry among those two states, In the end Bayodandi kills Kuhimanchha and marries Manchhalramo and establishes the rule of justice in both the states.
