बाना बनने की कहानी

इस धरती पर गोण्ड लोग बहुत पहले से रहते आए हैं। वे बड़ादेव को खुश करने के लिये बहुत तरह के उपाय करते रहे हैं। एक बार बड़ादेव नाराज हो गये, उनको मनाने के लिये कुछ अलग से सोचता हुआ परधान साजा पेड़ के नीचे बैठा हुआ था। उसी समय वहाँ से गुजरती हुई एक भरही चिड़िया की सरसराती हुई आवाज ने उसका ध्यान तोड़ा। उस परधान ने भरही की सरसराती हुई आवाज को फिर से पाने के लिये उसके पंखों और साजा की लकड़ी से पहला बाना बनाया। बड़ादेव के सामने उसने बजाकर उन्हें प्रसन्न किया। आज भी परधान लोगों का यह बाना सबसे प्रमुख बाजा है और बड़ादेव का गान भी करते रहते हैं।

Gond community has lived on this earth since long. They tried many ways to please their favoured God the Bada dev . Once Badadev got annoyed and then pardhan the youngest of seven gond brothers was given the responsibility to please. He was sitting under the Saja tree when the rustling sound of a Bharahi bird passing by caught his attention. Pardhan longng for the rustling sound of Bharahi bird made the first bana with the wings of the bird and wood of the saaja tree . He pleased Badadev by playing baana in front of him. Even today, this is the most prominent instrument of the Pardhan's as they continue to be the priest of gond community and also recite the glory of their Badadev.
